Ten Commandments of Christian Love

Author unknown.

FIRST: Jesus said ... Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.  Matt. 22:37, 38.

SECOND: The second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.  Matt. 22:39, 40.

THIRD: Let Iove be without dissimulation... Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another... If thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink... Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.  Rom. 12:9, 10, 20, 21.

FOURTH: Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world... Hate the evil and love the good.  I John 2:15; Amos 5:15.

FIFTH: Owe no man any thing, but to love one another; for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. Rom. 13:8.

SIXTH: Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God... Love worketh no ill to his neighbour; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.  I Peter 2:17; Rom. 13:10.

SEVENTH: Let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband. ...Walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us.  Eph. 5:33; 5:2.

EIGHTH: Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you.  Matt. 5:44.

NINTH: But speaking the truth in love... Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.  Eph. 4:15, 25.

TENTH: For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.  2 Timothy 1:7.
