Our eternal destiny depends upon our relationship to God. Because we have all sinned (Romans 3:23) and sin separates us from God and results in death (Romans 6:23), we need to know the way to God, for only God can forgive our sins and give us everlasting life.
What is the way which God in His infinite grace has provided for us? Jesus Christ is the way to God. As the Lord Jesus said, "I am the way...no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." (John 14:6) "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." (John 3:16)
For God sent His Son into the world "that the world through Him might be saved" (John 3:17) from sin and death. The Lord Jesus came and died upon the Cross, paid the penalty for our sins, was buried, conquered death, and arose triumphantly. Therefore, through Him, we can come to God and receive forgiveness of sins and everlasting life.
Unfortunately, many reject God's way and even consider it foolishness. (I Corinthians 1:18; 2:14) Instead of accepting God's way, the human mind has devised many ways to come to God to receive forgiveness of sins and everlasting life. But though these ways seem to be right, they do not lead to God, but to death. For "there is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." (Proverbs 14:12) As the Lord Jesus explained, "wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be who go in that way," but "strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be which go in thereat." (Matthew 7:13,14)
Therefore, take heed "lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." (Colossians 2:8) For Jesus Christ is THE way to God. "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved." (Acts 4:12) "For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus. (I Timothy 2:5)
Have you accepted God's way? Have you through faith accepted Jesus Christ? If not, won't you at this very moment bow before God, look up to Him in faith, and receive the Saviour whom He has provided? May you yield to the Holy Spirit of God as He seeks to convict you of your sins and to open your eyes to see Jesus Christ as the way to God.
