How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds
In a believer's ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.

Depend on it! God's work done in God's way
will never lack God's supply.

There is a living God;
He has spoken in the Bible;
He means what He says
and will do all He has promised.

When I came to see that Jesus Christ had died
for me, it didn't seem hard to give up all for Him.
It seemed just common, ordinary honesty.

I never made a sacrifice. We ought not to
talk of 'sacrifice' when we remember the great
sacrifice which He made who left His Father's
throne on high to give Himself up for us.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. Romans 12:1

Be strong ... and work: for I am with you,
saith the LORD of hosts.

THE ANVIL OF GOD'S WORD

"Last eve I paused beside the blacksmith's door,
And heard the anvil ring the vesper chime;
Then looking in, I saw upon the floor,
Old hammers, worn with beating years of time.

"'How many anvils have you had,' said I,
'To wear and batter all these hammers so?'
'Just one,' said he, and then with twinkling eye,
'The anvil wears the hammers out, you know.'

"And so, I thought, the Anvil of God's Word
For ages skeptic blows have beat upon;
Yet, though the noise of falling blows was heard,
The Anvil is unharmed, the hammers gone."
